The Tau is the last letter of the Hebrew alphabet. Was used with symbolic value since the Old Testament, to indicate the salvation and God s love for men. The shape resembles a cross, which lacks the upper arm. It is also called Crux Commissa, St.Anthony Cross, Cross of St. Francis, who adopted it as a personal symbol: -He had a great reverence and affection for the sign of the Tau.
